As a result of the governmen policy of enlarging domestic demand and H1N1 influenza, the nonwovens industry in Mainland China continued to grow during the first five months of this year. Nonwoven fabric production by companies larger than a certain scale increased by 27.8% compared to January-May 2008 to 480,000 tons.
May production grew by 28.8% from the same month of last year to 110,000 tons. Capital investments in the industry climbed 47.5% to 2,560 million yuan.
According to a survey on major manufacturers of masks and protective gear, Mainland Chinese mask makers are operating at nearly full capacity as they have received orders for up to the end of the year, and the prices of products are also rising.
